About Us

Big Valley Auction is a family owned and operated business serving the lower mainland and surrounding areas  since 2000.

The owners, Tony and Penny Sharbinin have an extensive background and resume in the areas of Antiquities, Estates, Liquidations, Appraisals, Bankruptcies, Auctions, and Business management.

Tony graduated with a diploma in forestry and technology in which he worked in Tasis, B.C. for several years. After traveling through Europe with his new wife Penny, he came home to adopt a new line of work in importing and exporting, as well as wholesaling antiques. He mentored under Ken Passmore for several years, and quickly became one of BC’s most prominent and respected antique wholesalers. His experience led him to become Jansen International’s West coast wholesaler for BC and Alberta. Jansen was a reproduction antique wholesaler, selling to customers around the world. In the year 2000 Tony took over “Valley Auctions” and created what is now a widely spread, reputable, and successful auction business he named “Big Valley Auction”.

Penny has a background in accounting, budgeting, and a degree in horticulture. She ran several of her own catering businesses alongside her family. Penny raised a family of three boys, while maintaining the homestead, she also became the manager of the Cloverdale Antique Mall and Auction. Shortly after the kids were in high school she became more involved in her husbands acquisitions, and turned out to be the perfect fit for office management, clerking and accounting with Big Valley Auctions.

Penny and Tony had three boys, Jamie, Joey, and Jordy. All three of which have put in an undeniable effort over the years to help and contribute to the family business.

As a family owned and operated auction facility, we offer services as we would expect as customers. Honesty and integrity are among our traits, and we firmly believe in a true UNRESERVED Auction.
